Content strategist + systems thinker

Helping teams turn complex information into clearer strategies, smarter content, and better ways of working.

P.S. Lyss rhymes with “miss.”

When work gets blurry

Sometimes the research is there, but no one has translated it into a clear strategy. There’s plenty of data, but it’s not helping the team make decisions. Content has accumulated across channels without a shared way to evaluate what matters.

Ways I can help

I bring a blend of content strategy, measurement, AI capabilities, and systems thinking to blurry problems. I take on a limited number of consulting projects where content, information, measurement, and emerging technology overlap. A few areas where I can be especially useful:

Messaging & Content Architecture

When your organization has a lot to say, but no structured approach for saying it. Teams keep recreating messaging from scratch, different channels feel disconnected, and important ideas get diluted or lost.

I synthesize existing research, strategy, stakeholder input, and content into a practical messaging system your team can actually use. You walk away with source-of-truth documents that make communications more consistent and faster to create.

Could include: Belief statements, audience value propositions, messaging hierarchy, story/content pillars, boilerplate language, terminology/glossary, and reusable messaging templates.

Content Measurement and Decision Framework

When you have the data, but don’t know what to do with it. Your team has analytics, dashboards, and search data, but it’s surprisingly hard to answer: What should we do differently because of what we’re seeing?

I help you work backward from the decisions your team needs to make and build a measurement approach around driving those decisions. Together, we clarify what you’re trying to learn, prioritize, or decide. We identify the evidence that can actually help, establish methods, and create a practical cadence for turning what you learn into action.

Could include: Existing data audit, stakeholder interviews, metrics mapping, clear definitions of KPIs, measurement frameworks, reporting/share-out templates, recommended reporting cadence, road map for improving measurement over time.

AI-Enabled Content Workflow Design

When your content team knows that AI could make work faster or easier, but experimentation is scattered. Individuals have useful workarounds, but there isn’t a shared process for deciding what AI should do or how to make good practices repeatable.

I work with your team to take one real, recurring content workflow and redesign it around the strengths of your people and AI.

Could include: Workflow mapping, identifying AI-suitable tasks, human judgement/quality checkpoints, prompt chains, reusable prompt templates, documentation, hands-on team workshopping and training, and a measurement plan.

Authority-Building Content Strategy

When your organization has an expert point of view, but hasn’t turned it into content. Your brand may be building up stores of expertise, data, research, customer stories, or proprietary knowledge, but isn’t turning those assets into content that demonstrates its unique point of view.

I help identify the strongest proprietary story you have to tell and build the editorial strategy for turning it into an authority-building content asset or portfolio.

Could include: Competitive analysis, research and report concepts, data-story opportunities, supporting content plan, distribution extensions, and measurement approach.

I also take on select editorial and writing projects when there’s a strong fit.

social media, story mining: I loved working on this project on behalf of former Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office. The mayor wanted to showcase amazing ways Chicagoans were helping each other in the early days of the pandemic. Our team found these folks and tweeted their stories.
